Deutron Kebebew
(pronouns: he/him/his)
Deutron Kebebew is a devoted father, husband, and mentor to fathers, father-figures, and young people in the community. He is the Founder and Executive Director of MENtors Driving Change for Boys, Men, and Dads, a local social justice-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Deutron is deeply passionate about advocating for and supporting children, youth, fathers, and families. With over 30 years of leadership experience, he has extensive expertise in fatherhood involvement interventions, evidence-based program implementation, and group facilitation. His work with the Supporting Father Involvement curriculum has positively impacted over 5,000 fathers and father-figures. Previously, Deutron served as the Manager and Director of the Supporting Father Involvement (SFI) evidence-based clinical research project for over a decade in Santa Cruz County, in partnership with UC Berkeley and Yale University. He holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Cruz.
In addition to his professional contributions, Deutron has served on several community boards, including Children's Network, CASA, Smith Society, and the Past President of the Watsonville Rotary Club. Deutron’s dedication has been recognized through numerous accolades, including the prestigious UC Santa Cruz Tony Hill Community Service Award, the NEXTies Award for Next Generation Community Leaders, the United Way of Santa Cruz County Community Hero Award, and the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award.
