Lun Wang

(pronouns: she/her/hers)

Lun Wang is a licensed clinical social worker and has been working with children and families that experience oppression for over 14 years. Throughout this time, she has worked with communities in different capacities—as a direct practitioner, a leader, and as an organizational consultant, striving to redesign our systems to center antiracism and equity.  At the heart of every role is Lun’s desire to be of the greatest service to her community and eliminate barriers for people that experience multiple, compounded challenges because of poverty and all the “-isms.” Lun’s family history and experiences led her to the path she is on today. Her mother is a white woman, born and raised in a rural military town in Texas, and her father is a Chinese immigrant from Taiwan. Her parents met in college and were initially forbidden to marry because of the racism that was woven through both sides of her family. Lun is the first grandchild in her family and her name, “lún, 倫,” ascribes purposeful meaning and intention to being the first born in Chinese culture.  Growing up in a home with mixed races and culture taught Lun about where she did and did not belong, much of which she is still unlearning and letting go of.

After becoming a new mother, Lun accepted the role of inaugural Health Equity Officer for the Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency in May 2024.  As a person who moved to the area at age 17 and made it her home, she is beyond honored to be in this role and in partnership with our community.  On the weekends, you can find Lun living the simple life, cooking, and playing outside with her family.
